Dean Unglert is open to using his brothers’ sperm for artificial insemination to start a family with fiancé Caelynn Miller-Keyes, if he is found to be sterile.
Bachelor Nation stars Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes recently discussed their family planning process on their “Help! We Suck at Being Newlyweds” podcast. Miller-Keyes revealed that she took the Modern Fertility test and that Unglert checked his sperm eight years ago, which was good at the time. However, Unglert has always thought he might be sterile due to low testosterone levels he identified in college. Therefore, he suggested using his brothers’ sperm for insemination if his sterility was confirmed. Miller-Keyes agreed but expressed her preference for adoption.
Unglert has two brothers, and he said that he had always imagined that he could resort to artificial insemination with his siblings’ sperm if he became sterile. Miller-Keyes agreed with the plan, but both admitted it would feel weird if one of his siblings was the biological parent of their child. Unglert said that it would be challenging at moments, but he would be happy with this option because their DNA is close enough to his.
Miller-Keyes previously mentioned that Unglert wants to get a vasectomy until they are ready to have children. She said that he wishes to get a vasectomy because he does not think that it is fair that a woman has to take birth control. When they are ready to have kids, he would then un-snip himself. Although she did not mention Unglert’s suspected sterility in her previous statement, it seems like the couple has thought about every option when it comes to expanding their family.
Unglert and Miller-Keyes met on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise” and got engaged in October 2020. The couple has been open about their reproductive health decisions, with Miller-Keyes discussing her struggles with endometriosis in 2019.
