Christina Applegate’s Surprise Appearance at 2024 Emmys in Red Gown

Never say never, right? Christina Applegate once said the 2023 SAG Awards would likely be her last gig as an actor. But, she surprised everyone by presenting an award at the 2024 Emmys.

She was a sight for sore eyes in a plunging red dress. It was a Monday, and she was the talk of the town.

Christina, 52, is known for her role in “Dead to Me”. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021. She walked on stage with a cane, and the crowd gave her a standing ovation.

She was overcome with emotion. She cried in front of everyone.

Her burgundy velvet gown was by Christian Siriano. It had a peplum detail at the waist. She buried her head in host Anthony Anderson’s shoulder, clearly emotional.

She joked, “Body not by Ozempic.” She’s also known for her role in “Up All Night”.

Her blond hair was styled in a bouncy blowout. She accessorized with two long gold pendant necklaces. She presented the Best Supporting Actress award to Ayo Edebiri.

She received a standing ovation when she stepped out on stage at the 2024 Emmys. The crowd cheered, and she was visibly moved.

Last year, she attended the SAG Awards in a chic Christian Siriano tux dress. She walked with a bedazzled cane that read “FU MS”.

She even helped design a stylish black-and-white cane for the mobility aid brand Neo Walk. It was priced at $150 and featured a “FU MS” collar and tag.

Her SAGs look wasn’t the first time she said “f–k you” to MS. She wore the same message on her nails during her 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

As for the Emmys, she was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the Netflix comedy. It was her 8th Emmy nomination. However, she lost out to Quinta Brunson.

She’s been nominated multiple times for “Dead to Me” and “Samantha Who?”. Her only Emmy win was for her guest appearance as Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green’s sister on “Friends” in 2003.

The 2024 Emmys aired on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. It was streamed on Hulu the following day, Tuesday, Jan. 16.
