Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband Peter Thomas is facing eviction from his Miami restaurant Bar One, as the landlord, Bentley Bay Retail LLC, is suing him for unpaid rent and other outstanding costs totaling $422k.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband, Peter Thomas, is facing legal trouble regarding his Miami restaurant, Bar One. Thomas’ establishment is being sued for eviction by Bentley Bay Retail LLC, who claims to be the landlord of the property where Bar One is located. According to court documents, a commercial lease agreement was entered into in 2018 between Thomas and Bentley Bay Retail. This is not the first time Thomas has faced eviction; however, a previous settlement in 2020 resolved outstanding debts.
The settlement agreement stipulated that Bar One would pay $270k to settle all issues, with the condition that if any checks were returned for insufficient funds, the deal would be void. Unfortunately for Thomas, the lawsuit alleges that multiple payments made by him in July 2022, August 2022, September 2022, October 2022, and March 2023 were returned for insufficient funds. As a result, Bentley Bay Retail claims that Thomas now owes a total of $422k, which includes rent, outstanding costs, utility charges, and sales taxes.
Although Thomas was notified of his default status in October 2022, this new lawsuit was filed during the same month. Negotiation talks between the involved parties failed, prompting Bentley Bay Retail to seek immediate eviction of Bar One from the location. It’s worth noting that this is not the only legal dispute Thomas has been involved in recently. In 2022, he faced another lawsuit over his planned restaurant, 1 Society, for unpaid rent. In this case, the court ruled in favor of the landlord, DTS DT Retail, ordering Thomas to surrender the keys.
These legal battles come as a blow to Thomas, who had initially announced his ambitious plans for 1 Society, aiming to create a luxurious supper club with a $3 million budget. However, with the mounting financial and legal challenges, it remains uncertain whether Thomas will be able to see his vision come to fruition. The future of both Bar One and 1 Society hangs in the balance as these lawsuits continue to unfold.
