Cast and creators of the Netflix show “Beef,” Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, and Lee Sung Jin, have condemned star David Choe’s fabricated rape story from 2014 as “hurtful and extremely disturbing.” Choe claimed he made up the story as a form of art, but many fans are now calling for a boycott of the show after a clip from his now-defunct podcast resurfaced him joking about being a “successful rapist.” Choe, who is primarily known as a graffiti artist, made $200 million for designing all the murals in Facebook’s headquarters.

Several “Beef” co-stars including Ali Wong and Steven Yeun have spoken out against David Choe’s fabricated and disturbing rape story, which has led to backlash and boycott calls for the show.

David Choe, a star of the Netflix show “Beef,” has come under fire after a story he fabricated in 2014 about being a successful rapist resurfaced. The show’s executive producers and stars, Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, along with creator Lee Sung Jin, issued a joint statement saying they do not condone the story and understand why it has been upsetting and triggering. Despite apologising in the past, fans are now calling for a boycott of the show after a clip from Choe’s now-defunct podcast “DVDASA” showed him joking about being a “successful rapist.”

In the episode titled “Erection Quest,” Choe joked about touching a masseuse without her consent and then forcing her to give him oral sex, which she declined. He claimed he made up the disturbing story as a form of art and to challenge and provoke his audience. However, fans have called for a boycott of the show, which centres on a star-studded dinner.

Choe is most known for his graffiti art and earned $200 million designing murals for Facebook’s headquarters. In the series, he plays Isaac Cho, an ex-convict. While Choe has claimed the story of being a successful rapist was fabricated, many fans find it disturbing and hurtful. His co-stars have called the story undeniably hurtful and extremely disturbing, calling for support for those who have been triggered by Choe’s comments.
