Dominic West from The Crown Stops Communicating with Prince Harry: Here’s Why

Dominic West and Prince Harry are no longer buddies. The actor has spilled the beans on why their friendship hit the rocks.

West, known for his role in “The Crown,” let the cat out of the bag during a recent episode of “Sunday Morning” on Times Radio. He admitted, “We sort of [lost touch because] I said too much in a press conference, and so, we didn’t speak after that.”

The actor, who portrays King Charles III in the popular Netflix series, was prodded by host Kate McCann to spill more details about his fallout with the Duke of Sussex. He revealed that their friendship took a hit a year after they participated in the Walking With the Wounded charity event in 2013. This event was a journey with injured veterans through the icy landscapes of Antarctica.

West didn’t go into the nitty-gritty of their falling out. But he hinted that his comments at a press conference in 2014 might have been the last straw. “[Harry] was very much part of the team,” West, 54, had said at the time, according to US Weekly. He had also mentioned that Harry had a knack for building latrines during their trip.

Fast forward to the present, West got candid about his past comments. “I think I was asked what we did,” he said. “[And] what we did to celebrate when we got there and [I] probably said too much,” he added.

West, who’s been part of “The Crown” since its fifth season, further explained that their friendship ended “over 10 years ago.” As a result, he wasn’t able to ask Harry, now 39, for advice on how to play his father, Charles.

In a twist of events, West also shared that he stopped his son, Senan West, from playing young Prince William in the show. The “Chicago” star revealed on Radio Times that he was uncomfortable with the storyline for Season 6. He said, “I didn’t really fancy doing the scene at Balmoral [Castle], telling a boy his mother has died.”

Despite this, he praised his son for doing a “great” job playing teenage William in the previous season. “They invited Senan back because he did such a good job, and he was great, but I did slightly balk at that,” he admitted.

On the other hand, Harry has confessed that he’s watched “The Crown.” He’s even said that he’s “more comfortable” with how the show portrays his family compared to other projects.
