Former Basketball Wives star Gloria Govan has been ordered by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to pay $197,774.62 to law firm Brot, Gross & Fishbein for unpaid invoices relating to her divorce from ex-NBA star Matt Barnes. The firm sued Govan for $250k which included debt and legal fees. Barnes, who shares twin boys with Govan, recently revealed he has “buried the hatchet” with ex-NBA star Derek Fisher, who started dating Govan while they were estranged.

Ex-Basketball Wives star Gloria Govan has been ordered to pay a $200,000 bill to her divorce lawyers after being accused of failing to pay the law firm’s invoices. According to court documents, a Los Angeles judge granted a default judgement against Govan, representing the law firm Brot, Gross & Fishbein, in the sum of $197,774.62. The action was taken after she failed to respond to a lawsuit filed against her by the attorneys.
Govan and ex-NBA player Matt Barnes married in 2013, but their relationship foundered just two years later. A fractious split ensued, culminating in a 2015 altercation between Barnes and fellow former NBA star Derek Fisher, who had been dating Govan. The subsequent legal drama was finally resolved in 2016.
Brot, Gross & Fishbein later sued Govan after she failed to pay their invoice for work undertaken during the divorce proceedings. Although they hired a process server to track her down, Govan did not respond to the case. As a consequence, the court awarded the law firm $187,000 in principal, together with a further $10,000 in fees.
Since her departure from Basketball Wives, Govan has kept a low profile. She married Derek Fisher in a 2021 ceremony in Malibu, and though the couple were originally planning a larger wedding, the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to put those plans on hold. Barnes, with whom Govan shares twin sons, has revealed that he has made up with Fisher, with whom he had once been at loggerheads. The two men are now on good terms, with Barnes saying that he and Fisher see each other frequently and are cool with each other.
