Grayson Chrisley is struggling to cope with his parents being in prison and says that visiting them takes a toll on him, making him bitter.

Grayson Chrisley, the son of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, has been opening up about the emotional toll of visiting his parents in prison. Speaking on his sister Savannah’s podcast, Grayson described the situation as worse than if his parents had died because they are physically present but not able to be with him or his sister. The Chrisleys were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for fraud and tax evasion in November 2022. Todd began serving his 12-year sentence in January 2023, while Julie is serving seven years at a separate facility.

Grayson’s sister Savannah, who is now the primary caregiver for Grayson and their 10-year-old niece, Chloe, admitted that the family is taking things one day at a time. She did note, however, that visiting Todd and Julie behind bars has renewed her spirits. Meanwhile, Grayson has been struggling with the emotional impact of not having his parents around. He recently turned 17 and described the experience of celebrating his birthday without them as challenging.

The family’s legal troubles have been ongoing since 2017 when they were indicted on charges of bank and wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, and tax evasion. They have consistently maintained their innocence, but in November 2022, they were found guilty on multiple charges. In addition to their prison sentences, the Chrisleys have also been ordered to pay restitution to the IRS and their former bank.

For Grayson, the experience of having his parents taken away has been especially difficult. He has described feeling bitter and knows that it may be a long time before things feel normal again. Nonetheless, he and his family are doing their best to get through this difficult time together.
