Reeves wore a blue ribbon on his lapel at the “John Wick: Chapter 4” premiere on Monday, which was Reddick’s favorite color. The blue ribbon was also given to the cast and crew with a note that read “We kindly ask you to wear this royal blue ribbon in honor of our dear friend Lance Reddick.” Other actors such as Laurence Fishburne, Rina Sawayama, and Ian McShane were also spotted wearing blue ribbons in honor of Reddick.
During an interview with Deadline, Reeves spoke emotionally about how much he admired Reddick, saying “He was a beautiful person, a special artist [and] a man of grace and dignity [with] such a passion for his craft.” Reeves also acknowledged how special it was to work with Reddick over the course of the 10 years and four films in the franchise. Reeves expressed his sadness about Reddick’s passing saying, “It f–king sucks he’s not here.”
Reddick was best known for his role as police officer Cedric Daniels in the popular HBO show “The Wire,” as well as his appearances in “Fringe,” “Oz,” and more. His cause of death seems to have been natural, according to sources.
