Matthew Perry’s Ex Alleges He Used Superglue to Curb Drug Use

Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, has made a shocking claim. She says the late star once glued his hands to his knees in a desperate bid to stop himself from taking more drugs.

Edwards, now 47, was romantically involved with the “Friends” star back in 2006. They met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and remained on good terms even after their breakup. In fact, she worked as his assistant in 2011.

In a recent interview with The UK Sun, Edwards reminisced about visiting Perry at the peak of his addiction. “I was at Matthew’s place in the Hollywood Hills. He was in a bad way,” she said.

According to Edwards, Perry had been using a variety of drugs all night, most likely crack cocaine among others. She found him on the couch with his hands superglued to his legs. “It was desperately sad. I had to use nail polish remover and olive oil to free him,” she recalled.

Edwards also shared that the aftermath was horrific. “We were literally ripping the hair from his legs and he had red, raw patches left behind,” she said.

This isn’t the first time Edwards has spoken about Perry’s struggles with addiction. In a 2020 interview, she alleged that Perry used her to pick up “cocaine, heroin, and crack” for him while she was pregnant. “I was like five months pregnant going down and getting stuff for him. He [would say], ‘No one’s going to pull over a pregnant girl. Don’t worry,'” she recalled.

Edwards, whose grandfather was director Blake Edwards, also questioned the circumstances of Perry’s death. The actor’s body was discovered in his hot tub on Oct. 28, and he was 54. His cause of death was listed as “acute effects of ketamine.”

“I know Matthew and I know that he wouldn’t have just drowned,” she opined. “I think he might have taken pills in the week leading up to this.” Sadly, Perry’s autopsy report proved her right, with the coroner finding that the actor accidentally died of “acute effects of ketamine.”

The autopsy report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects as other conditions that contributed to his death. Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in “Friends,” had also been taking Tammoxifen to lose weight, antidiabetic medication, nicotine lollipops and testosterone shots which left him “angry and mean,” according to a friend.

Perry recounted his battles with addiction in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.” In it, he revealed that he had spent about $9 million in an attempt to stay sober. A publicist for the late actor did not reply for comment.
