Well, here’s a way to keep things spicy! Ree Drummond, known as the “Pioneer Woman,” and her hubby, Ladd Drummond, have a unique way of unwinding. They go skinny dipping in their hot tub. And not just once in a blue moon, but multiple times a week!
Ree, a Food Network star, shared this juicy tidbit about their marriage on her blog. It’s a recent development, she says. It started after their youngest of five kids left for college in January.
The couple, who’ve been together since 1996, originally had plans for a pool in their new Oklahoma home’s backyard. But, they had a change of heart. They figured a jacuzzi would be easier to maintain and take up less space. Plus, they thought their aching joints would appreciate the hot tub in the coming years.
Ree and Ladd have been making the most of their hot tub. It became functional toward the end of summer, and they’ve been using it regularly since. Ree even shared a fun fact: neither of them owns a bathing suit. They’re not swimming pool people, she says.
With the kids out of the house, they can enjoy the hot tub without the clutter of Pringles or pop cans. The only hiccup? They have to wait until it’s dark to use the tub. Ree admits she’s shy about her body. So, they wrap themselves in towels, cross the yard, and slip into the 103-degree water in their birthday suits.
The experience, Ree says, is “warm, bubbly bliss.” They’ve been enjoying it three to four evenings a week. They typically just sit in the heavenly water, gaze at the clear sky, and chat about their hopes, dreams, fears, and concerns.
Their dogs, Fred, Rusty, and Shelby, are a bit confused by the whole thing. They can’t understand why their parents are naked, why they stay in a water hole for 20 minutes, and why they’re naked again. Their other dog, Lucy, spends the whole time sulking on the porch, seemingly embarrassed and confused.
