Two years after his exit from “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” Ronnie Ortiz-Magro made a rare appearance on the show to announce his move to Miami. The MTV personality shared his desire to leave Los Angeles for Florida with his 4-year-old daughter, Ariana, to get “a change of scenery,” while also pursuing his passion for opening a new sneaker store. During the episode, Ortiz-Magro reflected on the “bad situation” he was in over “the last couple of years,” referring to his previous struggles with domestic violence and sobriety.
Ortiz-Magro revealed that he was in treatment for eight or nine months, which helped him grow and become a stronger person. He noted that he now has full custody of Ariana, who he celebrated as his guiding light during his sobriety journey. Despite his brief TV return and filming with Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino last year, Ortiz-Magro has yet to appear on camera with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi or Deena Cortese, among other cast members.
Ortiz-Magro’s appearance on the show comes after news broke of his ex-girlfriend and former castmate, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, reuniting with her castmates after more than 10 years offscreen. Although Ortiz-Magro acknowledged that he “f–ked up” in the past, he is focused on improving himself and starting anew in Miami with his daughter and sneaker store.
