Swift’s friends were reportedly unsurprised by the split because the singer had recently come out of a long-term relationship. The pair had been spotted together several times since May, with Healy accompanying Swift on her Eras Tour and even being photographed outside of Electric Lady recording studio in New York City.
However, Swifties, as the singer’s fans are known, were not pleased with the relationship due to some of Healy’s past statements. Healy had made racist comments about Kanye West and Ice Spice, which prompted Swifties to launch a #SpeakUpNow campaign urging the pop star to address the issue. Healy had also come under fire for discussing watching “hardcore” porn on a website known for degrading women of color.
This was not the first time Swift and Healy were linked romantically. The duo had briefly sparked dating rumors in 2014 when they were seen at each other’s concerts, exchanging numbers and teasing a possible relationship. However, nothing came of it at the time.
